Hike in Bernheim Arboretum (Millenium Trail 1/2) on 3/15/2019

Tony and I ventured out to Bernheim Arboretum today to tackle half of the Millennium Trail which is about 7 + miles. It was a relatively cloudy day with the temps in the mid 40s. Pretty nice temps for a walk in the woods.

This hike had lots of mature growths of Beech trees and Tulip poplars several creek crossings and is considered a moderate to difficult hike. We left the start at on a counter clockwise direction and really had no difficulties other than the trail was blocked at several locations due to the heavy winds from the day before.

Hike in Red River Gorge (Gray’s Arch) on 3/12/2019

Hike in Red River Gorge (Gray’s Arch) on 3/12/2019

Off to Red River Gorge again with my sister Jenny again. The last time we hiked together was to Gray’s Arch was as best we could figure (or remember) was summer of 1973 with my older brother Jerry and my little brother Randy. Jenny and I picked this day as it was (and still is) Jerry’s 71 Birthday. Jerry left us awhile back in his physical presence but is always with us in a spiritual one.

We didn’t camp this time and we started from the Gray’s Arch parking lot and walked about a mile and a half to the arch. we took a break on an overlook above the arch and valley below.

Thank you Jenny for a most enjoyable day and thank you Jerry for exposing me to the beauty and wonders of the world!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO!

Mitchell Hill Lake

Tony, Ronald, & I went for a nice hike today at the Jefferson Memorial Forest. Temperatures were a bit chilly when we started on our hike about 10 AM, hovering around 19 or 20 degrees. The sun was shining so I really wasn’t worried that it was to cold. Hiking up a hill or 2 while the sun is shining will warm a body up fairly quickly. Nice walk in the woods with good friends. 🙂
