Hike in Clifty Falls State Park – Madison, Indiana on 1/28/2019

We (Tony & I) figured we would get a nice hike in before the big chill (Polar Vortex) gets here in a few days. He had mentioned Clifty Falls State Parkbefore and since neither of us had ever been there it sounded like a nice trip. I have always heard that Madison, Indiana was a pretty cool place so plans were made. A nice 5 or so mile hike and lunch in Madison.

The weather was fairly pleasant in the mid to upper 40’s during most of the hike. I don’t know where I got my preconceived notion that these were gonna be some “Bunny” trails and a walk in the park. They were some nice up and downs , a few creek crossings, an off trail excursion to get back on trail that made it a pretty challenging hike.

All in all it was a very very nice hike with some spectacular views. I would probably compare the Geography to some of the cliffs at Red River Gorge. Late lunch at a nice restaurant (The Red Pepper) in Madison and home before the bad weather hit.
